THEMA 1: Bewerbungsbrief

Schreiben Sie einen Bewerbungsbrief für einen Job.  Benutzen Sie das Modell [adapted from the 2nd edition of Vorsprung, p. 376]. In German 102, we are NOT yet at the level at which we can write a real cover letter for a job, but we have learned all the necessary language in order to be able to have fun with this format. You can apply humorously for a “normal” job, or make up an absurd imaginary job to apply for. Feel free to have a little fun by exaggerating your abilities in the letter, as in this silly English model. After reading through the model, leaf through Kapitel 9 for ideas, and check Kapitel 10 briefly, as well as reviewing the Studienfächer vocab from Kapitel 2, Persönliche Eigenschaften from Kapitel 4, usw.

Modell:

Berlin, den 21. April

Sehr geehrtes Team der Firma Superprodukt,

ich [note that this first line begins with a lowercase letter, unless of course the first word is a noun!] habe lhre Anzeige fur eine*n Webdesigner*in bei “taz.de” gesehen.

NOTE: We have made the full movie available on Canvas while you work on this essay, so that you can refresh your memory as needed!

For section 1:

  • Leaf through the Kapitel 2-10 vocabulary in Vorsprung to look for verbs you can use to write the dialogue. If you notice other useful words/expressions/sentences, then of course list those also.
  • You may also want to look through the film worksheets for ideas. If you include words/expressions/sentences from the worksheets in Section 1, group them under the sub-heading “From the worksheets.” Here is the Almanya Teil 1 Worksheet, the Almanya Teil 2 Worksheet, the Almanya Teil 3 Worksheet.
  • The full movie will be available in the Media Gallery for you to review as needed in the week before the essay is due. If you add words/expressions/sentences from the movie to Section 1, group them under the sub-heading “From the film.”

THEMA 3: Ein Märchen

In Kapitel 10 haben wir viele Vokabeln für Märchen gelernt. Benutzen Sie diese Vokabeln – und das Präteritum! – um ihr eigenes [=your own] Märchen zu schreiben, oder eine Parodie eines echten Märchens, oder eine parodistische Kombination von 2 oder mehr Märchen.
